========================================== ========================================== Are you Ready? Often candidates have a preconceived idea what the panel wants to hear thinking their unique. Here’s an example: Captain Bob. Could you review my answers to a few questions? My first thought when I read this e-mail was; come on really did you practice these answers with a tape recorder before you sent them to me? Question: Tell us about yourself. Absolutely, but first I would like to thank you for spending the time with me this morning and for your consideration for recruiting me as a member of the your Fire Department. Reply: Why are you putting this in????? No preambles. Just answer the question. For the past four years I have been in the customer service industry. My current position is working for a motor sports dealer as the parts manager where I work with customers and their needs on a daily basis. One of the reason I enjoy the customer service business so much is it allows me to connect with a lot of people and build relationships. The relationships I’ve built and the customer base I’ve established at Motorsports has resulted in a 10+% increase in revenue. I have also served as a Volunteer Fire Fighter for 3 ½ years. Obviously, I don’t need to tell you how important customer service skills are to a Fire Department. I think a true strength of mine is my tenacity. I strive for my goals and there’s no stopping me until I reach them. Reply: This is not what this question is about. You're starting to dump the whole load when this question is not scored. Why use your good stuff here when it would be more valuable on another answer? This question is only an icebreaker. A minute or less on your interests and hobbies. Check this out: http://www.eatstress.com/opening.htm Question: Why do you want to be a Fire Fighter? I know for the past week you have heard story after story about being in the fourth grade and the fire department came to the house because there was a fire in the garage and how they all worked as a team and how impressive it was to watch. And I’m sure every story is true and from the heart. Reply: Here again why are you including this???? How do you know the other candidates did this? But the fantastic part about that is not that the fire department came and did a great job. The fantastic part is that everybody in the world has a story like that. I want to be a part of that commitment to the community and embrace the public trust that is known worldwide. In the fire department, performing you job under great stress and performing above and beyond isn’t remarkable work, it’s everyday work and that’s why I want to be a Fire Fighter. Reply: Clone!!!!!! Sorry. If these two questions need improvement how are your other answers???? You’re looking for a seamless, no surprises interview. Consider getting in a coaching session to get unstuck. More here: http://www.eatstress.com/private%20coaching.htm You can’t get a job your first time out!!!!! Oh, yea? This just came in: Hey Capt. Bob, Just wanted to let you know that I bought your Gold package a while back and used your system and found my own "nuggets" and got the call this morning I am scheduled for my psyche and background and get my official conditional job offer next week for the City of Las Vegas. I am very excited because everybody always told me that nobody gets a job offer their first time testing. I can officially say that this was the first time I have ever tested for firefighter anywhere and I used your system and I did it. I can’t thank you enough. Your system really helps. I used a tape recorder until I thought the buttons were going to fall off and even though the questions were not the same I had enough practice that I was able to shoot from the hip and ride that winning pony to the finish line. Once again thank you so much I am a true believer in "Nuggets" Thanks Riley A candidate contacted Rob for coaching. Rob asked him how he found us? He said he talked to a fire officer in upper Northern California who used Captain Rob to get hired and Captain Bob for promotional coaching to gain his captains bars all at the ripe old age of 23. He knew right then he had to find out more about how that happened. While you’re here get a 10-day test drive of selected inside secrets how to get a badge. Learn more here:
