Psch DroppedBecause of the tight job market, many companies are dropping drug and psychological exams according to a USA Today article in the Moneyline section August 8, 2000. Workers are speaking out against some of these tests. Last month, a company settled a class-action lawsuit brought by workers who felt questions in a psychological test went too far. Some of the 502 true-false questions included "I believe there is a God,""I have no difficulty starting or holding my bowel movement" and "I have never indulged in any unusual sex practices." The company will pay $2 million in damages and discontinue using the psych test. One of the former employees said,"It was absurd. I was offended someone would ask me these questions." The psychological test has only been used for many fire departments the last few years and it is changing the fire service. Sure there are some folks who have a lot of baggage and shouldn’t be hired. But most of the red-hot’s, the back bone of the fire service, can’t make it through the process. Surprisingly, the evaluations are based on the performance of those in already in the fire service. More and more agencies are using the psychological test in their hiring process. Psychologists have convinced cities of the need, are competing for this lucrative business and agencies feel they need the service to hire the right candidates. In one large department forty-percent of candidates were eliminated from the hiring process through the psychological tests. Fire administrations feel theirs hands are tied and get frustrated when they see a high percentage of their superior candidates that were eliminated by their physiological test and then being hired by other agencies. Anyone who has gone through a psych test understands how humiliating it can be. With those responsible for what many consider an irrelevant screening process being sued for big $$$$, maybe this will set new guidelines in the hiring process. We have the only "Special Report" for the road map to "Conquer the Psychological Interview". If you are offered a job conditional on the medical, part of the medical will include a psych, this should be a big red flag that you can't wing it. Here's why: What would you do in this real situation? A large department was in the hiring process. They called 12 candidates in for the psych. Well, three passed. They were our candidates armed with the information from the special report. They called another 6 in for the psych. Two passed. They were our candidates. They called another 6 in. Two passed. Yep, they were our candidates. To our knowledge most if not all the candidates had access to the Perfect Firefighter Bulletin Board and knew the "Special Report" was available. If you knew you could get our "Special Report" as an insurance policy, would you get it? The only ones who passed were the ones who stepped up and prepared for what turned out to be a badge. You can test drive the "Special Report" by clicking here Absolutely nothing counts 'til you have the badge. Nothing!
